Open Fires and Camp Fires

Knowing what is and is not acceptable to burn is the first step in having a successful outside fire. Air pollution control regulations allow for the burning of natural brush and vegetation such as limbs and leaves from trees. Additionally, clean wood that is not painted, stained, or in any way treated may be burned. While it is not necessary to obtain a permit to have a fire contained in a fire ring or outside manufactured burn containter, we request that anyone who wants to burn, to call ahead for a permit. Obtaining a permit to burn gives you an opportunity to ensure there are no bans in effect, and it can prevent a response from the fire department due to good intent calls from people who see the smoke and become concerned. You must have a water source with you so that you can control the fire if it  happens to spread, and you must stay with the fire until it is completely out.
